When I start a new painting I will often approach it from a different starting point. On this demo day, I started with the sky because I wanted to create a pink/purple sky.
I knew this would dictate the colors and values I would choose for the other planes (foreground, midground, background), but I solved these problems as the piece progressed.
Throughout the process of painting, I spend a considerable time stepping back and analyzing my work. Changes continue to occur until I'm satisfied.
After coming home with the piece, I made a few slight changes: fixed the yellow green tree in the midground, Removed some of the lavender from the back field and added a small row of trees in the background on the right-hand side, which adds another plane.
Thanks to all who attended my recent demo. As promised, here's the finished piece.
